World Internet Day

World Internet Day is celebrated annually on May 17.

The date was established by the United Nations (UN) in 2006 and has since been celebrated every year. On this day, it is proposed to reflect on the potentialities and challenges of new technologies in the lives of citizens.

The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the Internet protocol suite (TCP / IP) to connect devices around the world.

Originally launched during World War II, with the goal of creating a specific communication channel for US military services, the internet became part of citizens' lives only in the late twentieth century.

The advent of nternet has brought significant changes in people's daily lives, from the way they look for information on how they communicate and purchase products and services. Nowadays, almost everything can be done through the internet.

Despite the immense potentialities beneficial to users, the hegemony of the internet has also brought some dangers. Users are advised to adopt safe practices, such as not sharing personal and bank identification data with strangers, and using secure passwords for all their accounts.
